MAN v FAT FOOTBALL GAME KICKS WEIGHT INTO TOUCH

Fat-fighting men on a weight-loss football scheme scored a great goal – losing a whopping 61 stones, the equivalent of 61 FA cups, between them.

And thanks to the MAN v FAT health scheme all 93 men are now taking part in a special tournament between teams Porky Blinders versus Black Flabbath at West Bromwich Albion on Sunday May 21 at 4pm.

Every week men weigh in, play football in an organised team tournament and earn bonus goals if players in their team lose weight, rewarding them for scoring both footie and weight goals.

To date 93 men taking part have lost the equivalent in weight of 61 prized FA cups over the past eight weeks.

Men can also get nutrition advice as part of the scheme.

After 14 weeks men can choose to stay on the league to continue to play football and keep the weight off as part of the programme funded by Sandwell Public Health.

The scheme has been running at Portway Lifestyle Centre since March this year and new leagues are planned on football pitches in Smethwick’s Hadely Stadium, Tipton’s RSA Academy and a venue yet to be decided in West Bromwich. Jyoti Atri, Director for Sandwell Public Health, said “We are proud to be showcasing our scheme on the pitch at West Bromwich Albion this weekend.

It is a great opportunity to share these brilliant success stories of men who used it to fight the flab.” The scheme is now recruiting for the next league.
