SUMMER FUN AT SANDWELL VALLEY

Sandwell Valley Country Park is gearing up for two fantastic family fun weekends this August plus a big Bank Holiday Monday market.

The fun kicks off with the Sandwell Strongman competition on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 August, which runs from 10am until 5pm both days.

The Sandwell Strongman competition will see the area’s muscle men take on a series of daunting challenges to be crowned the strongest of them all.

There will also be live music, a real ale bar, children’s entertainment and a market with food, arts and crafts and lots more on sale.

The following weekend, Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 August, is an agricultural and horticultural weekend, running from 10am until 5pm both days.

Come along for farming demonstrations, animal racing, farm machinery exhibits, live music, real ale bar, children's entertainment, countryside crafts and falconry displays.

There’s also another market on both days. Then on Bank Holiday Monday (29 August) it’s the Giant Bank Holiday Monday Market – 10am until 4pm with a rambling mixed market selling fine food, arts, crafts, vintage, shabby chic, continental and lots more on plenty of unusual stalls.

Admission to the events is free but there will be a small charge for some of the activities – such as boats and donkey rides and face painting.

Parking is £2 per vehicle. Sandwell Valley is also one of the parks hosting a full six weeks of sporting and other activities for young people during the summer holidays.

There’s lots for everyone to do, activities for people of all ages and plenty to keep the kids occupied. “We’ve pulled together a really good programme of events that surpass the two-day Sandwell Show we used to have. So if you're having a staycation this summer, make the Valley your destination “Fingers crossed for some good weather and we hope everyone who comes along has a great time."
