OP MARKS FOR SANDWELL VALLEY ON TRIP ADVISOR

Sandwell’s family-friendly country park and farm have been given a big thumbs up by visitors posting on popular social media site Trip Advisor.

The council-run attraction has been named the number one visitor attraction in West Bromwich by visitors who use the online tourist guide.

In one recent a post about Sandwell Valley Country Park says: “Rain or shine this place has something for everyone, it has a small charge for the farm but it's worth it with lots of animals great for children, high ropes for older children and a great adventure playground, clean toilets, easy free parking bikes for hire with Dartmouth Park next door which is also worth a visit it’s amazing.”

To date 204 people using Trip Advisor have rated the park as excellent with another 104 saying it is very good of the 327 reviews just two were critical about signage and from 2012 a complaint about dog fouling. Another recent post says: “So much to do, from bike hire, free play grounds with sand and water adventure, to the farm.

Every time we visit this park my kids don't want to leave, it's truly amazing and everyone I’ve advised to visit this place fall in love straight away.

I wish other parks in Birmingham copy what's been done at Sandwell Country Park.

It's an adventure for all.” Councillor Richard Marshall, cabinet member for leisure, said: “It’s great so many people take time to write such positive reviews and that Trip Advisor is telling us something we knew all along – what a great place Sandwell Valley Country Park and Farm is. We have a lot of events there for our Summer in the Valley season but don’t forget the park is a year-round destination for all ages. “We are looking at bringing in a small nominal parking fee at some time in the future and any money raised will be ploughed back into maintaining this wonderful facility.

In addition we are actively looking at ways of increasing the number of activities that people can participate in at the valley.

” On Monday August 29 from 10am-4pm there is a Giant Bank Holiday Market a rambling mixed market including street food, fine food, art, crafts, vintage, shabby chic, continental, unusual and general stalls.
