The cafe will open to the public on July 4 and will then be available on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11am to 3pm each week. Sandwell Council deputy leader Councillor Mahboob Hussain said: "The idea of the cafe is to offer affordable refreshments to local people in a friendly atmosphere where everyone is welcome. "We want to create a community cafe where people from all walks of life can meet up and socialise." The cafe will be run by volunteers from local organisations. Library staff are looking for people with a few hours to spare to help run the cafe. It will offer teas, coffees, cakes and light snacks which could be built up as it becomes more established. It would help if the volunteers had cafe experience but training will be offered to all who apply. If you would like to get involved please contact the library on 0121 558 0497 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
