People who have moved to live in Sandwell from Croatia can now contact the council to be included in the register of electors. Councillor Mahboob Hussain, deputy leader and cabinet member for towns and neighbourhood services, urged members of the Croatian community and others from EU countries to play a part in democratic process.

He said: ”It is important for people to be on the register of electors because it will allow them to vote in future elections. “It is also very useful for residents to be on the list because credit reference agences use the register as proof of existence if they apply for loans.” People can make inquiries about being listed on the register by downloading a form from www.sandwell.gov.uk/elections or request a form by phoning the elections team on 0121 569 3244 or collecting a form from the Council House, Oldbury or emailing the team on This email address is being protected from spambots.
