Wednesbury North Children Centre will holding a fun day on Wednesday, 3 July, from 11am to 3pm.

The event will feature face painters, balloon modellers, a bouncy castle, and West Midlands Fire Service.

There will also be food and drink, including the chance to make a healthy drink with a Juicer bike. The celebrations will be held alongside the annual Barnardo’s Big Toddle, a short sponsored walk for toddlers that helps the UK’s most disadvantaged under fives.

The children’s centre, based at Old Park Junior School, was opened in 2008 by Dominic Hubble, the first little boy to attend the nursery.

It is run by a consortium called Health for Living on behalf of Sandwell Council. A network of children’s centres around the borough provides support for families, including classes for mothers and babies and young parents.

Councillor Simon Hackett, council cabinet member for children’s services, who will be attending the event, said: “The centre has done excellent work since it opened, providing invaluable help and support to many families and individuals in Wednesbury.”

Children's centre lead Karen Gibbons said: “The celebrations will be a wonderful opportunity to raise funds for Barnado’s Big Toddle and to celebrate a special anniversary.”
